Yesterday was the first time out detecting for me this year. I spent a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon working sidewalk edges in an older part of town. I really need to look into an exercise routine for the winter months to keep my detector swinging arm in shape. Found enough clad to buy myself a beer on the way home +some older pennies (my detector is a penny magnet) and some other odds and ends. I felt so good to be out and swinging again and in that zone between the headphones.
Stick to the sunny spots and you're fine.

I hope to get out soon - still pretty wet in my area - another week and should be good.

I gave my backyard a try the other day. I am pretty inexperienced at this and haven't swung my detector anywhere but on the beach in BC when I lived out there. Haven't used it in 4 or 5 years so this was as much practice for me as well. I also got to try out my new digging tool and pin pointer that I bought.
In about about 30 minutes I found two nails, a hunk of old rusty unidentifiable iron and a rimfire .22 case.
At least I know everything works.....
