Hi all, got a chance to go out yesterday for my first dig of the year and turned up a few puzzling artifacts that I was hoping somebody might be able to identify. I am fairly certain that the object in the first picture is a large drill bit used to bore into the river bedrock (I was searching a spot along the Ottawa river where several holes had been drilled down into the exposed bedrock). The two large rusted objects on the blue lid however have me stuck. My only guess is that they might be a different variation of drill bit? Finally the two other objects were eyeball finds and I decided to pick them up just because I had no idea what they could be. They appear to be some kind of flat rectangular piece of carbon with the edge wrapped in some kind of plastic/rubber. The smaller one is about the size of a quarter. Any ideas??? Happy hunting!!!

The middle ones may be some form of chisel?

They could be Digger D, not sure what use the big geometric tips would have though...

When they split large slabs of stone they drill a hole, put in two wedge like objects and hammer a pin between them to cause them to separate and split the stone - maybe they just used large chisels instead?
