Hey guys, Just wanted to put the word out that there's an Archaeology course starting on Coursera on Feb 24th. I know a lot of you, like me, have a passion for archaeology and items of historical/cultural value, so it might be worth looking at. If you're unfamiliar with Coursera, it is essentially a hub for free courses from some of the biggest universities and learning centers in the world, and it's all completely free (their current revenue stream comes from university-level certification for completing courses -- but they also grant completion certificates for passing). I've so far taken about 8 courses from them, and they've all been awesome. You can expect 6-8 weeks of lectures (all on-line videos, released at the start of the week), as well as peer reviews, peer discussion, quizzes, assignments, exams, and almost always direct contact with the professor and teaching assistants. Pretty awesome stuff. They've also never spammed my e-mail if you're concerned about that. Anyways, ya, Feb. 24th is the launch of Archaeology's Dirty Little Secrets with Sue Alcock, hosted by Brown University (8 weeks long). Looks interesting. www.coursera.org
