Can anyone recommend any other pinpointers instead of the Garrett Pro pointer that work reasonably well and aren't as expensive? I know everyone says to just get the garrett because none can compare, but I'm not sure if I want to spend more on a pinpointer than my actual detector.

Ok I'll get the Garrett, but I have a couple questions. Is it waterproof, and what site can I get it the cheapest?

The best price I've seen is the "normal" price of $129.95 wich is down from last year I believe. It is waterproof except for the speaker holes. Some people silicon over them for underwater use. I place my thumb over the holes when I rinse off the unit under the sink. Trust me you won't be disappointed with this unit, it makes locating a find so much easier. Less time on your knees is more time hunting. Be careful if you see low low prices on this as there are Chinese knock offs going for about $50 or $60, they are not the same at all.

Ok, thank you for all your help Digger D! I'll probably order it from middlesex because from my recent purchase from them, they have fast shipping and great prices.

You're welcome loosecannon. I order a lot of my stuff there too. You'll love it once you start using it.
