There were seven of us at Brittania Beach today; sbashed, targets, lucky duck, richied, rick, ptr, and myself digger d. It was a very nice turnout and I think everyone was glad they came. Lucky Duck showed off her new Tesoro metal detector, and a nice looking machine it is! Three of us where from the Discovery metal detector camp, targets had the AT Pro (I really want one so don't leave it laying around lol), and I was most impressed with ricks gear as he headed off into the river with his snorkel to disappear from sight under the water a time or two I even got into the water for my first time although only up to the knees and half way up the stem of my detector (only the coil is water proof) in the kiddie zone. Targets seemed pretty comfy in the water as well as she reported digging for 15 minutes for a penny Ok, I think I'm missing somebodies machine but I'm getting old and my best memory resides in my digital devices these days. One conclusion I've come to so far from the other detector hobbyists I've met is that we are generally a nice bunch of people. Although finds today were poor at best most of us got together at Baja Burger for a drink at the end and had a great chat. P.S. Anyone else going to Britannia Beach my advice is to look shallow in the first 4 to 6 inches as under that is a rocky bottom where I suspect things are trapped but not worth the effort to dig up (nor the stares from the beach goers ) But hey I found some tin foil and a pull tab today so what do I know lol.

You're probably missing my gear, DD, which is fair because (a) you didn't see it; and (b) it's not at all that exciting. But ya, I was gifted a Discovery 1100. It's most similar to Richied's 2200, with the 3 modes of discrimination and all.
But it worked and I had a great time; that's what's important.

Yes that's the one I am very familiar with the 1100 having read the manual and trying to convince my buddy that his works just fine - you just have to dig the strong signals (as is best with all detectors regardless of what the ID is).
